Our club sponsors 2 races: The Rocketman Triathlon, a swim, bike, run on Redstone Arsenal, AL, will be held on August 24th. New distances this year are: 800-m swim/33-k bike/7.5-k run. This new course should prove challenging, with a scenic bike, and a rolling-hill road and trail run. The new distances should prove a great stepping stone from sprint to Olympic triathlon distance. New this year, Rocketman is a USAT sanctioned race. Rocketman raises money and donates toys to the U.S. Marine "Toys for Tots" program.
The Heel & Crank Duathlon is a 3-mi. run, a 10-mi. bike and a 2-mi. run. It is on Oct. 26th at 7:45 a.m. It will be held at Bridge Street Town Centre. The Heel & Crank Duathlon raises money and awareness for ALS (Lou Gehrigs disease). This charity was choosen because of the late Darin Kruse, one of our local triathletes and friend, who recently lost a 3-year battle with ALS. |
