Try Boro Kid's Triathlon

My daughter, 9, and son, 7, participated in the Try Boro Kid's Triathlon, http://www.tryborokidstri.org/, in Murfreesboro, TN, on Saturday. Their junior division (7-10) consisted of a 100 yard swim, 2.4 mile bike, and half mile run. The senior division (11-14) did twice that.
The race committee did an awesome job of setting up clinics throughout the summer to prepare for the race. The swim was well staffed with numerous volunteers helping kids get in and head out to transition as well as lifeguards in the water for a quick assist, but the kids were so prepared they didn't need any help. Additional volunteers in the transition area helped the kids change and head out onto the ride consisting of closed roads on an out and back route. The volunteers then helped them rack their bike and the kids did a run route out and around the baseball fields to a full up triathlon finish line with the balloon arch and announcer. Each finisher received a really nice medal and post race snacks from the Great Harvest Company. Awards were given out for all the ages as well as a fairly large number of door prizes. Though it's a 2 hour drive from Madison, AL, we'll definitely do it again next year.
