SpineCare Rocketman!
The Rocketman Triathlon is a USAT Sanctioned Olympic Distance Triathlon put on by the Team Rocket Tri-Club. 2010 marks the 17th year for the Rocketman Triathlon in memory of John Masterson.
The event takes place at 7:30 am on Sunday, August 29, 2010, at the Col. Hudson Recreation Area on beautiful Redstone Arsenal. This race benefits the USMCR Toys for Tots Program.
This will be a great "tune-up" race for those who have qualified or are attempting to qualify for Age Group Nationals in Tuscaloosa just 4 weeks later.
All participants and spectators are URGED to bring a new toy to the race. The toys should be turned in at packet pickup. If you wish to make an additional monetary donation to Toys for Tots you can donate to the program during the online registration process on imATHLETE.
The race is limited to 450 competitors. Due to military security considerations, all entries must be received by August 25, 2010. There will be NO race day registration.
If you are not a U.S. Citizen, please check the box on the entry form and note your nationality. Entrants younger than age 15 must be approved by the race director, Mike Gerrity, phone 256-508-9116 (mjgerrity@knology.net) before entry.
New "Collegiate" category for awards and low budget entry fee.

USAT Sanctioned Race:
This race is sanctioned by USA Triathlon. All participants must either be an annual member of USAT, or purchase a one-day membership for $10. Annual membership can be purchased from USAT for $39. Youth racers 17 years old and under MUST be an annual member of USAT. Annual membership for youth members (17 and under) can be purchased from USAT for only $5.00. Visit www.usatriathlon.org for more information about becoming an annual member.
YOU MAY PICK UP YOUR RACE PACKET ONLY. I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but it is a strict USAT rule. At packet pickup you must show a PHOTO I.D. and your USAT card. If you are not a USAT member, you must sign up for a special one day fee ($10 CASH or CHECK only) and sign a USAT waiver. Those who signed up online via active.com have already paid your one day fee, and need only sign the waiver (you still must present a photo I.D. to pick up your packet).
These are very strict guidelines we must follow to retain USAT sanctioning. If they are not met, you will not race, no exceptions. The decision to become a USAT event was made due to the astronomical cost of private insurance for a one day multi-sport race. As a USAT race, USAT completely covers all insurance needs, plus earns you points toward national rankings, and ensures you are competing in a USAT approved event. As over half of our competitors are USAT members, this becomes a very cost effective means for covering our race. If you are not a USAT member, you may want to consider joining as more and more races are falling under USAT governance. Please consider going to the USAT website and reviewing the benefits of membership.
All USAT races use the "age-up rule" for award distribution and ranking. the "age-up rule" means you are racing based on your age as of the last day of the year (12/31/2010).
